ZURICH OFFICE

Building automation in Zurich

GEA Ingenieure AG plans, coordinates and inspects building automation for new and existing buildings in the Zurich area. Our head office is at Herostrasse 9 in Zurich-Altstetten, with project managers working throughout German-speaking Switzerland.

We work independently of system suppliers: concepts, tenders and inspections are carried out neutrally across all SIA phases 21 to 61. This independence pays off particularly in conversions of existing buildings, projects with many trades involved, and demanding ICT interfaces.

Our services in Zurich

Typical tasks in the Zurich area

  • Conversion and renewal of existing buildings: control system replacement and BA modernisation during ongoing operation, for example in substations, university buildings and retail spaces.
  • Coordination of many trades: HVAC, plumbing and electrical (HLKSE) interfaces, data point lists and clear responsibilities from planning to acceptance.
  • ICT in construction projects: network and addressing concepts, handover points between building automation and IT.
  • Operation and energy: data-based operational optimisation during the management phase (SIA phase 6).

BA planner for Zurich, Aargau and central Switzerland

As an independent building automation planner we support projects far beyond the city: throughout the canton of Zurich (Winterthur, Regensdorf, Volketswil), in Aargau (Aarau, Baden, Lenzburg, Wohlen), in Zug and Lucerne as well as in the Bern and Solothurn regions. Planning is not tied to location: meetings take place on site, at your office or online.

Our projects in Aargau show that this works: the H02 laboratory building of Kantonsspital Aarau, the Suva Bellikon energy centre, the regional care centre in Baden, the Halde school building in Wohlen and the laboratory conversion at the Leibstadt nuclear power plant.

Frequently asked questions

When is an external building automation planner worthwhile?

As soon as several trades interact or the system choice is still open. An independent BA planner produces neutral concepts and tenders, compares offers objectively and inspects the execution against the ordered scope.

Which SIA phases does GEA cover?

We support projects across SIA phases 21 to 61, from strategic planning to commissioning. With our planning modules Basic to Professional, the scope grows with the project; on request including support during the management phase.

How are HLKSE and ICT interfaces coordinated?

Through our technical coordination and ICT coordination: shared data point lists, defined handover points, network and addressing concepts, and meetings that keep all parties on the same level of information.

Does GEA also optimise existing systems?

Yes. In energy and controller optimisation we analyse operating data, adjust controllers and reduce energy consumption and faults during ongoing operation, without necessarily requiring new hardware.

Does GEA also take on projects in Aargau, Zug or Lucerne?

Yes. A large share of our projects lies outside the city of Zurich, such as Kantonsspital Aarau, Suva Bellikon and the care centre in Baden. Distance plays a minor role in BA planning: concepts, tenders and inspections are produced independently of location, and we are on site for meetings and acceptance tests.
